  • Fixed focal length Lens
  • extremely fast (f/1.0)
  • Portrait focal length of 50mm (76mm converted to KB)
  • weatherproof
  • for professional photographers and filmmakers

The new FUJINON XF50mmF1.0 R WR from FUJIFILM is the world's first F1.0 AF lens for mirrorless system cameras1. With a portrait focal length of 50mm (equivalent to 76mm KB), this ultra-wide telephoto Lens features an exceptionally wide aperture to create a beautiful bokeh effect with velvety background blur. Despite its large diameter, the weather-sealed lens is comparatively lightweight and compact, making it an ideal choice for professional photographers and filmmakers.

The XF50mmF1.0 R WR is the fastest lens FUJIFILM has ever built. It offers exceptionally brilliant image quality with high resolution to the corners of the frame, as well as FUJIFILM's unparalleled color reproduction.

Autofocus focuses precisely and extremely quickly on the subject, even at F1.0 open aperture. The face and eye detection of the X series cameras ensures pinpoint automatic focusing despite the shallow depth of field. The focus ring for manual focusing can be rotated 120 degrees, allowing both precise control of focus and shifting of the focal plane between near and infinity.

Minimum depth of field for stunning images

The optical design of the XF50mmF1.0 R WR comprises twelve elements in nine groups, including an aspherical lens and two ED elements to correct spherical aberrations.

When the aperture is fully or nearly fully open, the depth of field range is exceptionally shallow. This characteristic is ideal for expressive portraits that appear almost three-dimensional when shot with the XF50mmF1.0 R WR. Never has the extremely shallow depth of field been better utilized to focus attention on the model's eyes and create portraits full of character. The large circular aperture creates a distinctive, harmonious bokeh effect that gives the shots a professional look.

However, the XF50mmF1.0 R WR is not only suitable for portraits. Street and lifestyle photographers can also use the Lens to soften troubled backgrounds for unprecedented cropping of the main subject.

F1.0 speed - ideal for low-light shooting

The high speed of the FUJINON XF50mmF1.0 R WR opens up additional low-light options. In darkness or dimly lit environments, the lens captures more residual light than any other XF Lens.

This has tangible benefits in practice: a fast shutter speed can be selected to freeze subject movement and avoid motion blur, or ISO sensitivity can be kept low to capture more detail in the image. Alternatively, combining higher ISO values with aperture F1.0 offers maximum flexibility and opens up new possibilities with extremely low residual light, for example in astrophotography.

Maximum precision - in autofocus and manual focus

The XF50mmF1.0 R WR is the world's fastest autofocus lens for mirrorless system cameras2. It is the only XF Lens that allows so much light onto the sensor that autofocus works even in darkness down to light level -7 EV. At F1.4, this is only possible down to -6 EV.3

Combined with the additional benefits of sensor-based Phase AF, Face and Eye Detection, and the powerful focus motor, precise automatic focusing is guaranteed even at full aperture.

When focusing manually, for example using the Focus Peaking function or another focus assistant, the special benefits of the XF50mmF1.0 R WR's focus ring come into play. It can be rotated 120 degrees and operates with eight times the precision of other XF lenses.

The XF50mmF1.0 R WR is also designed to minimize effective focus shift, which is common with fast lenses when stopped down.

Weather-sealed and compact - a lens for every day

Despite its exceptionally high speed, the XF50mmF1.0 R WR is a lens for everyday use. With a length of 103.5 mm and a weight of 845 g, it is relatively compact. Combined with an X-series weatherproof camera, it can easily be used in bad weather or adverse conditions. Seals at eleven critical points provide splash and dust protection and allow the Lens to be used in cold temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius.

1 Compared to other interchangeable lenses for mirrorless system cameras (as of September 2020, source: FUJIFILM)
2 As of September 2020
3 When used on the FUJIFILM X-Pro3 or FUJIFILM X-T4.

General Note: It is recommended to update the camera's firmware to the latest version before using the XF50mmF1.0 R WR for the first time to enable effective "color shading" correction due to the angle of incidence at F1.0 open aperture.
