  • Database with over 40,000 celestial objects, 100 user-definable objects, additional information on 200 objects
  • Special database with the most popular deep-sky objects by name and catalog number: the most beautiful double and multiple stars; variable; solar system; star patterns
  • Reinforced bearings and drive mechanism with spring-loaded R.A. worm housing and classic worm/gear combination
  • Newly developed electronics for constantly controlled power supply to the motors enables operation even if the telescope is not perfectly balanced

The CPC Deluxe 800 HD combines the revised fork mount with the new EdgeHD optics. It is the most transportable of the top series of Celestron fork-mounted telescopes. It is a powerful, ready-to-use device for visual observation and, with the optional polar wedge, is also suitable for semi-professional astrophotography. With over 20 cm (8 inch) aperture and the outstanding StarBrightXLT coating, the telescope collects 800 times more light than the naked eye. The telescope shows you unimagined details on Jupiter, the Cassini division in Saturn's rings and structures on the surface of Mars. Despite its large aperture and focal length, it is easy to transport thanks to the practical carrying handles and a weight of only around 20 kg - regardless of whether you just want to carry it into your garden or drive it to a dark observation site.

New optics design
The EdgeHD optics (Edge High Definition) combine the compact design of a Schmidt-Cassegrain with significantly improved imaging at the edge of the image. This optical system not only offers the properties of astrographs, but also produces completely undistorted, sharp images right up to the edge of the large visual and photographic field of view. Not only is the coma outside the optical axis corrected - as with other so-called "coma-free" optical designs available on the market - but also the image field curvature! All EdgeHD telescopes provide a large flat field of view, which enables sharp star imaging even at the edge of large CCD sensors. Further information and sample images can be found on our Edge HD page.

Built-in GPS
The CPC Deluxe HD telescopes have a built-in GPS sensor that automatically receives the date, time and your exact location from the GPS satellites. This means you no longer need to enter this data manually.

SkyAlign
... is the name of Celestron's foolproof alignment procedure for perfect GoTo positioning. The telescope no longer needs a defined home position: you place three bright stars (planets and the moon are also possible) one after the other in the telescope's field of view and voilá, your CPC telescope is ready for automatic GoTo positioning on any object from the manual control database.

SkyAlign calculates the position of your telescope from the distances traveled by the three stars and the corresponding angles. SkyAlign "fetches" the other data required for this (date, time and location coordinates) via the integrated 16-channel GPS receiver.

"SkyAlign only works in azimuthal operation of the telescope, i.e. when the telescope is operated directly on the tripod without a polar altitude cradle. But Celestron also has some new and simplified alignment procedures for equatorial operation in the CPC series.

Extensive database
The database of the CPC telescopes contains over 40,000 celestial objects, including the Messier and Caldwell catalogs as well as galaxies and nebulae from the NGC catalog and the planets. You can narrow down the selection to simplify the search in this comprehensive database and hide the objects that are currently below the horizon.

The "Identify" function tells you what you are looking at in the telescope and makes it easy to explore the sky. Simply point the telescope at any area of the sky and display the nearest Messier objects, for example - the telescope will move to them for you. You can do this in different areas of the sky and with different objects!

With "Solar Sys Align" you can also align the telescope during the day using the sun or moon to observe the planets or the brightest stars in the daytime sky.
