In accordance with §11 PAngV (German ordinance regulating the indication of Prices), the last offer price shows the lowest price of the last 30 days after all usual direct discount deductions. 1. Extremely high resolution performance and excellent contrast rendition
The optical design, which is based on the predecessor model SP 70-200mm, has been extensively revised. The resolution performance and contrast rendition of the new Lens are significantly higher. The barrel contains 23 elements in 17 groups, including XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements. The special lenses minimize image errors such as chromatic aberrations (colour fringing), which are typical of fast telephoto lenses, and at the same time ensure a uniformly high image quality across the entire image area.
2.World-leading image stabilization in this lens class*1
Tamron's VC image stabilization is based on a 3-axis coil system whose performance has been further improved. The response time of the drive unit and the control mechanism have been optimized so that compensation over five f-stops is now possible, which is unique in this lens class*1. Telephoto shots in low light are therefore significantly less susceptible to blurring.
The VC system of the SP 70-200mm G2 also offers three different modes, one of which is perfect for tracking shots where the camera follows the movement of the subject. Mode 1 can be customized via the TAP-in console.
3.Extremely fast autofocus
The SP 70-200mm G2 is equipped with an ultrasonic ring motor whose outstanding responsiveness ensures extremely fast focusing. Thanks to the use of two very powerful microchips and an improved AF algorithm, the focus speed and precision have been significantly accelerated compared to the previous model. If necessary, automatic focusing can be corrected manually at any time without having to switch to manual focus mode (MF).
4.Wonderful bokeh effect
Nine aperture blades form an almost circular opening, creating a very harmonious bokeh effect. Background and foreground blur into a wonderfully soft out-of-focus effect.
5. Versatile use thanks to shorter focusing distance
By optimizing the focus and zoom mechanism inside the lens barrel, the focusing distance has been reduced from 1.30 metres to 0.95 metres compared to the previous model. This enables a shorter shooting distance and therefore a larger image scale. In conjunction with the excellent resolution performance, this offers the photographer a multitude of new expression possibilities.
6.Optimized eBAND coating
All lens elements are coated with an eBAND coating (Extends Bandwidth + Angular-Dependency) specially developed by Tamron for the SP 70-200mm G2. This technology combines a conventional multi-coating and an extremely thin nano-coating with an extremely low refractive index. The high anti-reflective properties of this combination ensure very effective anti-reflection coating of the lens surfaces, minimizing stray light and light reflections inside the lens. The new telephoto zoom lens achieves flawless, brilliant image results even when shooting against the light.
7.Weatherproof design and Flour coating
The body of the SP 70-200mm G2 is protected against the ingress of splash water and dust at all critical points with special seals. The Lens can be used without hesitation in all weather conditions and in damp and dirty environments. The front lens has a water and grease-repellent Flour coating. The outer surface is therefore particularly easy to clean and resistant to fingerprints, moisture or damage caused by adhering dirt particles.
8.Arca-Swiss compatible tripod clamp
The SP 70-200mm G2 is supplied with a newly designed tripod clamp. It is compatible with Arca-Swiss quick-release plates and is made of lightweight, robust magnesium, which is also used in tripod construction.
9.Electromagnetic diaphragm
The model variant with Nikon connection is now equipped with an electromagnetically controlled diaphragm unit*2. This allows even more precise exposure, as the aperture blades open and close very precisely. This function was already integrated as standard in models with a Canon mount.
