A handy 500mm Full-Frame Lens
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is just 209.6mm long and has a maximum diameter of 93mm - an amazingly compact size for a 500mm-class ultra-telephoto zoom for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Even at the extended 500mm telephoto range, the Lens is still remarkably compact at just 283mm. The Lens zooms from 150mm to 500mm by rotating the zoom ring through an arc of just 75° - less than a quarter turn. This feature allows quick adjustment to the desired angle of view with minimal movement, avoiding missed opportunities and facilitating intuitive composition. TAMRON's renowned VC mechanism also greatly improves handheld performance by counteracting camera shake.

The 150-500mm F5-6.7 is TAMRON's first ultra-telephoto zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras to reach the 500mm focal length. Even when extended to the 500mm telephoto range, the Lens is still compact enough for comfortable handheld shooting. With this Lens, users can shoot with consistent performance and high image quality even in the ultra-telephoto range, where a tripod was previously required. To support handheld shooting in the ultra-telephoto range, the new zoom is equipped with VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), a linear motor focus mechanism that provides excellent smoothness and agile performance, and TAMRON's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism for high-level image stabilization. At the 150mm end, the Lens offers a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.6m for powerful and dramatic close-ups.

Amazingly high image quality despite its compact size
The optical design consists of 25 elements in 16 groups. The generous and effective use of special lens elements, including one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) element, five LD (Low Dispersion) elements and two hybrid aspherical lens elements, thoroughly controls aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations. This 150-500mm F5-6.7 ultra-telephoto zoom Lens was designed and engineered with an emphasis on compact size and ease of use without compromising image quality, allowing users to enjoy exceptionally high resolving power across the entire frame.

VXD AF motor offers high speed, high precision and excellent smoothness
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 features the same highly acclaimed VXD linear motor autofocus first introduced in the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (model A056). The VXD provides extremely fast and highly accurate movement, ensuring exceptionally responsive performance. Even when shooting ultra-telephoto at a focal length of 500mm, the 150-500mm F5-6.7 provides fast, comfortable and precise focusing at all shooting distances, from near to far.
Focus tracking has been significantly improved to facilitate the capture of fast-moving subjects, such as sporting events, birds and aviation. This ensures that dramatic, action-packed moments are not missed, whether shooting stills or video. In addition, the linear motor reduces drive noise and vibration generated during focusing (compared to a conventional drive system), making it ideal for photo and video shooting in low-noise environments.

Tamron s highly acclaimed Vibration Compensation delivers superior image stabilization
The slim, compact 150-500mm F5-6.7 features TAMRONs VC mechanism. The Lens features a VC mode selector with three settings (Mode 1: Standard, Mode 2: Panning Only, and Mode 3: Frame Priority), allowing the ideal VC mode to be recalled depending on shooting conditions. This functionality delivers excellent image stabilization performance and enables efficient reduction of image blur caused by camera shake.

Exciting tele-macro focuses down to 0.6m
The 150-500mm F5-6.7 offers outstanding close-up performance for an ultra-telephoto lens. The MOD is 0.6m at the 150mm end and 1.8m at the 500mm tele end. The maximum magnification ratio at 150mm is exceptionally high at 1:3.1. Users can capture powerful tele-macro shots of subjects such as flowers and insects while maintaining a reasonable shooting distance - closer than possible with conventional ultra-telephoto zoom Lenses.
