Thepurely organic, pollutant- and chemical-free care product for compagnon canvas products.
This wax cares for the canvas fibers and refreshes the water-repellent properties of canvas products such as canvas messengers and backpacks. Made by us, it preserves the natural properties of the material, is safe for young and old and is an ideal partner for "the beewax" leather care, especially for backpack care.

How do we know what is really in this care wax?
Just like the popular "the beewax" for the care of our leather, we make the "canvas wax" ourselves. In addition, the ingredients for our tried and tested recipe come from our own production. The bee colonies in the garden of compagnon co-founder Vitalis' father provide an important basic ingredient, the purity and quality of which we can literally see for ourselves. We keep an equally close eye on all other ingredients.

So when we say that our care waxes are 100% organic, we mean it. From the fire pit in our garden to the finished product.

Do I have to treat my canvas product with the canvas wax?
When touching our canvas products, such as the compagnon backpack, the wax layer on the canvas fiber is immediately noticeable. Depending on the use and environment (weather, temperature) in which the bag is used, the wax applied during production will work off at different rates. This process is accelerated in very warm/hot temperatures. The wax content gives the canvas fiber its water-repellent qualities. If you attach great importance to this property, we recommend waxing the canvas every 12-18 months as a precaution.

The canvas wax naturally also affects the patina and appearance of the fiber. The wax refreshes the color and, depending on the application, makes patinas that have already been created appear richer. If you prefer a dry, rough look of the canvas, apply only a thin layer of wax every 18-24 months. This does not detract from the durability + robustness of the material.

Can't I just use regular wax for maintenance?
We advise against using bleached industrial wax. These products often contain (petro)chemical additives that are harmful to health. The natural quality and purity of the compagnon canvas is lost if such a product is used. In addition, we cannot rule out a significant discoloration/color change when using industrial wax.

Please remember that compagnon products are in intensive contact with you (and your fellow human beings) and this contact should be as harmless as possible.

Is the application on canvas not complicated?
No, not at all. We have made a short tutorial video for you to show you the simple steps. This will be available here shortly. The canvas wax can simply be rubbed over the fiber, an even application is almost self-evident. Then all you need is a hair dryer to heat the wax a little. The linen fiber will then automatically absorb the wax as if by magic. After a short drying time, your backpack or canvas messenger is refreshed.

How often can I treat the canvas?
This is primarily up to you. If the fiber is still saturated, it will not be able to absorb the applied wax, which you can easily determine with a test. Our Book-A-Backpack rental backpack has now been on the road for almost a year on all continents. Nevertheless, its wax content is still more than sufficient. You have to decide for yourself when you want to refresh the canvas of your compagnon. One "canvas wax" bar is sufficient for 1-2 coats (depending on the size of the area to be treated).
